Ladies and Gentlemen,

On the reverse of this letter is a rendition of a proposed stamp, conceived and designed by John Crane, Kenneth J. Mabe, and Jeffrey R. White, or the continuation of the Veteran stamp series originally issued in 1985. The purpose of the stamp is to honor the approximate 3.0 million veterans that actively served in the Southeast Asia Theater of Operations as well as the over 6.0 million other men and women that served in the Vietnam Era worldwide.

It would be appreciated if you would give favorable consideration to the concept as well as the enclosed stamp idea. In addition, if possible, an issue date on or about May 7th, 2000 would be appropriate as that is the 25th Anniversary of the end of the Vietnam Era. Also, a logical First Day City would be Washington, DC  preferably at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

Thank you for your consideration and assistance in this matter.

Sincerely,
