Vietnam Vets' letters wanted for book by Morley Safer

Dear Vietnam Veterans:

Do you have any letters written by your family or friends who were killed in action or reported missing in action?

I am researching a book entitled "Letters from Vietnam" edited by Morley Safer of "60 Minutes" and myself.  It is a collection of letters from American servicemen and women to their friends and families back home.  This book is aimed at capturing the Vietnamese conflict as seen through the eyes of American participants.

The collection of letters will ultimately depict the daily lives of Americans serving in Vietnam through a unique first-person perspective, giving an unbiased, intimate, and honest portrayal of their experiences in their own words.  "Letters from Vietnam" will be published by William Morrow and Company, an imprint of HarperCollins, in 2002.

If you have any letters, please e-mail me at tquinnmclennan@adlerbooks.com at your earliest convenience.

We are looking for letters that describe combat, the soldier's life, reactions to the conflict and philosophies of war, the Vietnamese people and Vietnam, relate a humorous story, etc.  We want letters at go beyond expressing homesickness, requesting news from home, etc. and tell the story of Americans in Vietnam in their own words.

As a means of introduction, I am an editor and author of numerous books, including most recently "World War Two Letters." I hope that you will take this chance to commemorate an important time in American history. Without your support, this book would not be possible.

If you have any questions about this book, I would be happy to answer them.  E-mail is the best way to reach me.  I may also be contacted at the following address:
