Newsletter December 98
Dear Brothers,

Well, 1998 is drawing to a close, we can look back at a year punctuated with highs and lows. For the first time ever our color guard led the 4th of July parade in LaPorte, and we were looking good. I hope the LaPorte Jaycees read the newspaper in the days following that parade because many people wrote in to say they appreciated seeing us up front. It was a fine time indeed for , even more so for me because my best friend from Washington DC, Mr. Jimmy J. Shields was here to be in that parade with us.

As for lows, we lost two members. In July we lost Dick Messman, although he had not been a member for very long, I had become close to him, and his passing was very hard on all of us who knew him. We also lost our old friend Larry Davis. His passing is still hard for many of us older members to realize because Larry meant so much to us and the organization.

As we look back at loosing these two brothers, we also must remember the other recent (September 97) passing of Steve Noland. Brothers, we are all getting older every day, and sad as it is to come to grips with, loosing our members will become more common every year. So while we are still all alive and together we should strive to be happy, and band together. I have been a member of this organization for many years, yet there are still members I have NEVER met. Hard to believe!

An excellent time to get together with our fellow Nam Vet brothers and their wives would be Saturday, January 16 at the Michigan City Holiday Inn for the annual Christmas party. Cocktail hour at 6:00 PM and dinner at 7:00 PM. It is open to all members whose membership dues are paid up, and their wife or girlfriend (don't bring both). I really do hope to see you their.
has come into the 21st century! Thanks to brother Paul Ewing we now have a home page on the internet. Our web sight is namvets.com If you are on the internet check out what Paul has done. If you don't have a computer you can use one at the LaPorte public library. THANK YOU PAUL!

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season, and I am looking forward to seeing every member at the Christmas party. I am also looking forward to working with each of you in 1999 to make all it can be.

Sincerely,

Richard J. Mrozinski Jr.
