namvets.com Welcome home Bothers and Sisters! |
Dear Brothers;
After months of work and research, our Vietnam Monument in Soldiers Park, LaPorte will
finally be finished. The engraver will be adding to the monument the names of LaPorte
County men who died in the Vietnam War. The re-dedication ceremony is SATURDAY MAY 29,
1999 AT 11:00 AM. I expect to see all members in attendance, unless you are
working, out of town, or dead.
Since we have been using the LaPorte VFW Post for meetings, and for our fund raising
events for a couple of years now at no charge, we have decided there is something we can
do to repay them for their generosity. On the East Side of the building, between the
building and the lake, many trees and shrubs are growing wild, and will soon obstruct the
view of the lake. has taken on the project of clearing this mess up. We figure
with some of our able-bodied men, we can do this within a few hours. We will undertake
this project on Saturday morning June 12, starting at 9:30 AM. I really hope to see a good
turn out for this, we owe it to the VFW for all they have done for our organization, and
it will be fun to do something with your fellow Vet brothers. Plan to attend.
We are officially entered in the July 4th parade in LaPorte. If you dont
already have your cammies and boonie hat, get it ready. We will meet at the Bakery Store
on east Linclonway, between Jackson and Adams, at 0930 AM. I hope we have a bigger than
usual turn out This last year of the 20th
century.
