namvets.com Welcome home Bothers and Sisters! |
Dear Brothers;
Vietnam Veterans Inc., was founded in 1983. It has always been a dream of the Chapter founders to have a place they can call home. Finally in 2001, we have a home. At the January 13 annual Christmas party, our founding father Jack Leatherman cut the ribbon and officially opened the door to our new office. It was an exciting and emotional event to say the least. Although the room is small, it is all ours. The trophy's we have been awarded at various events are in the front wall for all to see. Inside, the walls are home to various plaques, flags, and more room for whatever members want to bring in. John Gregurich has graciously donated a new desk and chair from his business, DUNES OFFICE SUPPLY/CHESTERTON. As time goes by, we can all contribute to make our place as unique as we are.
Probably the nicest feature of our new home is the wonderful club it is located inside of. LaPorte VFW Post 1130 will give us access to our office whenever we need it, and only our officers have a key to our office. We don't have to concern ourselves with all the things involved in actually owing the building, (maintenance, taxes, payroll, insurance, etc.). We actually have the best of both worlds.
I urge every member to attend a regular meeting, to see our new home. I hope every member is as proud of it as I am.
Our next Chapter fundraiser is Saturday April 28, 6:00 PM till midnight, with music from 8:00 PM. We will be planning the event at the upcoming regular meetings, so attend, and get involved.
Sincerely;
Richard J. Mrozinski Jr. President, Vietnam Veterans Inc. LaPorte Co.
