namvets.com Welcome home Bothers and Sisters! |
Dear Brothers;
After
18 years, Vietnam Veterans Inc., finally has a place to call our own!
The new addition on the LaPorte VFW is nearly done, and we have our own room.
Although it may not be exactly what our founding brothers had in mind, it is all
ours, all we have to do is put the finishing touches on it. If you want to see
it up close and personal, go in the VFW in LaPorte, turn to the left, and go to
the office at the far end, on the left .....
home at last. At our next meeting, Wednesday November 15th, we will get a
plan of action and set a date to start working on our space, to make it our own.
When it is finished, probably early in January, we will have a dedication
ceremony ....you don't want to miss this one.
Another
thing you shouldn't miss is the annual Christmas Party. It will be Saturday
January 13, at the LaPorte VFW Post 1130. Free cocktails at 6:00, dinner at 7:00
with a cash bar till the party is over. A $10 per person charge for dinner may
be sent in anytime from now till the day of the party.
VETERANS
DAY is November 11. The annual ceremony at the LaPorte Civic Auditorium will be
held on Friday, November 10 at 0930 AM. This is because they bring in all the
middle school kids in Laporte for the ceremony. If you are not working try to
attend.
It
is probably apparent the newsletters have been fewer and farther between this
year. I am sorry I can not dedicate as mush time to the Chapter as I used to,
and as much time as it really takes to do a good job. I have many changes in my
life that have caused me to have less time to spend on the Chapter. I had
anticipated this last year, and stated then I would not seek another term as
your President. I have been President now for 9 terms, and am now SURE I need a
break.. I urge others to get involved, and I urge those already involved to
consider who will be my replacement after the April elections. Although I will
no longer be President, I will not disappear, as other long time members have. I
will still attend functions, meetings, and will continue to do all I can for the
Chapter.
Sincerely;
Richard J. Mrozinski Jr. President, Vietnam Veterans Inc. , LaPorte Co.
